Villa Petriolo is a recovered pearl that allows you to reconnect to nature, a restored and transformed village, where you can breathe centuries of history and an agricultural estate active since the sixteenth century, a historical monument of the territory that represents the perfect connection between history and agriculture. In fact, in the “Golpaja” estate (today Volpaia) stood the ancient furnace of Petriolo where the bricks for the construction of the Villa of Cosimo I De Medici in Cerreto Guidi were made.
Furthermore, the estate has the good fortune of being in a unique area, where the types of terrain alternate with great frequency among the hills; there are soils of marine origin where the presence of shells and layers of fluvial-lacustrine origin are often found.
In our itinerary, of 5 km and suitable for everyone, we will go to cover a small part of the more than 25 km owned by Villa Petriolo (170 hectares). Here we will have the opportunity to meet both the farmyard animals that are part of the educational farm and the small aquatic oases of the estate, up to the traces of the inhabitants of the forest, exploring varied landscapes, unique in the Tuscan countryside. And then we will enjoy the fruits of the earth and the work of those who really love it, enjoying a super and typical Tuscan lunch in our Osteria Golpaja.
