La Notte d’Isabella | 1-2 July
The atmosphere and mysteries of “The Night of Isabella” return to the historic center of Cerreto Guidi. As if by magic you will awaken in July 1576, in an atmosphere of great celebration, for the arrival of the beloved Isabella, favorite daughter of Cosimo l. Within the walls of the 16th-century village you will encounter nobles and commoners, ancient knights and scenes of daily life, historical games, ancient crafts, Renaissance music and dances, jesters and storytellers, falconers, feats of swords and crossbows, games of fire and flags.
For two days the atmosphere will heat up, in a succession of period performances of all kinds, until the news of Isabella’s mysterious death, which occurred precisely in Cerreto Guidi on July 16, 1576. You will hear whispers of “the truth,” amid stories and popular legends passed down for centuries, until the final show in the magnificent setting of the Medici Bridges to celebrate the life of the “Star of the House of Medici.”
